12-Bit Crunch launched their second unique Kontakt instrument Soul Machine last month.

Inspired by the highly sample-able sound of Atlantic and Stax records, it contains 84 gospel chords (seven types in all twelve keys), each individually played on four different vintage instruments, switchable on-the-fly.

Partly a chord-progression generator and also a sample-player, it's an instrument that's somewhat hard to define but a quote from a popular online music production forum summarises it well: "I've sampled off vinyl so much, and it's nice to be able to get that flavor without trying to harmonically bend a vinyl sample to your will."
