Toneboosters releases BitJuggler - Vintage Digital Processing Emulator

8th November 2020

Toneboosters has released BitJuggler, a new plug-in for macOS, Windows and iOS that simulates the anomalies of vintage digital gear and imperfect sampling.

Here's what they say:

Whether you'd like to go down memory lane to create that 80's digital sound from early personal computers, add vintage sampler character to your audio tracks, or shape your audio beyond analog simulation: BitJuggler will deliver the digital imperfections with painstaking accuracy.

BitJuggler covers all your basic bit crushing needs, with various quantization schemes such as linear, a-law and mu-law quantization and with an optional envelope follower. In addition, the audio resampler with a variety of resampling algorithms easily produces that creative digital aliasing sound with full control over the amount of D/A and A/D aliasing components.

BitJuggler also includes speech and transform codec simulators to accurately generate musical noise as you would get from transform codecs such as MP3 or AAC. A GSM speech codec simulator adds spectrally shaped quantization noise by employing linear predictive coding (LPC).

BitJuggler ads options for pre- and post emphasis for digital clipping, quantization and resampling to provide unique capabilities to further shape the effect of the bit crushing and resampling processes, and ads a beat-synchronous LFO to allow parameters to change over time.

Price: EUR 29 for a desktop license. The iOS or iPadOS license costs approximately EUR 7,99 from the Apple App Store. For Windows and macOS users, a free demo plugin is available: Free demo download link.
