Audulus updated to v4.0.4 - New 5x5 Multimode Matrix Sequencer

Audulus LLC has announced update 4.0.4 for Audulus 4. This update includes a new multimode 5x5 Matrix Sequencer module. The module can be driven by gates or modulation and outputs up to 21 different sequences simultaneously.

Audulus module designer Mark Boyd in a video in his ongoing series Wired Up with Mark explains how the module works with examples highlighting each mode.

What makes this sequencer so unique is that you can drive one axis of the sequencer directly with an LFO while clocking the other axis like a normal sequencer. This allows you to introduce rhythms that are otherwise impossible to create with normal stepped sequencers.

5x5 Matrix Sequencer Features:

• Up to 21 independent sequence outputs.
• 4 polyphonic outputs for both sequencer axes.
• 2 Modes: Gate and Mod mode, determined by how the sequencer is driven.

• Gate mode features random walk and random step options.

• Mod mode has separate controls for sculpting output gates created whenever the sequencer moves from one step to another.

• 4 submodes of Mod mode: Free/Free, Free/Clocked, S&H/S&H, and S&H/Clocked.
• Free mode allows the sequencer to be driven directly by modulation, even at audio rates.
• Free mode also have a function to randomize knobs function that immediately changes the values of all knobs to new random values. This mode can be toggled on and off to return to original knob values.
• S&H mode uses a clock to sample modulation to determine the current step.
• Unified, CPU-light UI drawn by a single Canvas node in Lua.

The 5x5 Matrix Sequencer is included as a free update to Audulus 4. Audulus 4 is available as a free download on the Mac and iPad App Stores. Patch editing is an in-app purchase upgrade for $19.99 USD.
