Supercritical has announced the release of Redshift 6, a desktop synthesizer that combines technology from the budget travels in time and space.
Redshift 6 is a touted as a 'variable character synthesizer'. It features a 'Demon Core' Oscillator, (also available as a Eurorack module) that can utilize up to 16 analogue oscillators per voice with analogue waveforms generated under digital control. The filter is an analogue 4-pole variable character filter that is also digitally controlled to act like a range of classic vintage synthesizer filters.
In addition to the oscillators and filters, Redshift 6 has all the features expected of a modern synth such as plentiful modulation options, flexible voice routing, six-part multitimbrality, MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression), and bypassable stereo effects.
The six voices can be configured in a variety of ways and each voice can also operate as a paraphonic voice with up to 16-note paraphony. Multiple filters can be chained by routing audio from one voice to another.
The Redshift 6's physical form factor is a compact desktop device with a 2.7-inch TFT colour screen surrounded by eight endless clickable potentiometers while the back panel includes a pair of main outs, aux outs 1, and aux outs 2, as well as MIDI IN/OUT, USB-B connection, and a headphone output.
Redshift 6 is priced at £1,099 GBP / €1,259.00 EUR / $1,349.00 USD from selected retailers including Thomann and Perfect Circuit.
