Plughugger releases "Carbon" and "Reduction" for Spectrasonics Omnisphere

30th December 2024

Plughugger has released two new soundsets for Spectrasonics Omnisphere, both based on sounds recorded from a Virus TI synthesizer sampled through an Ensoniq EPS 16+ hardware sampler.

Reduction is a slowed down and melancholic soundset aimed for lofi ambient productions while Carbon is a dance music soundset inspired by the music scene of the 90s.

For decades, the Access Virus has been a popular choice for dance music as well as cinematic ambient productions. For Reduction and Carbon, Plughugger first sampled all sounds into an Ensoniq EPS 16+ hardware sampler using fairly low quality settings and low sample rates. Together with sampling at lower input volumes, the result is what a Virus would have sounded like if it was released in the middle of the 80s. Modern yet with a dusty lofi feel.
