Sampleson releases "Predictor" - Generative MIDI composition Tool

Sampleson has released Predictor, a plug-in and standalone application designed to generate notes, triads, and voicings based on existing MIDI data.

Predictor functions by learning from MIDI files. It analyzes cadences, note relationships, velocities, and other musical features within a loaded MIDI file (either from the integrated library or a user's own file) to predict subsequent notes and chords.

Users control the rhythm of the generated output. Each trigger, whether from a mouse click, computer keyboard, or MIDI controller, initiates the next predicted note or chord. The timing of these triggers determines the rhythmic flow of the resulting musical phrase.

Predictor divides the keyboard into three zones (low, mid, high) to guide the generation process based on the range being triggered. It also features a QWERTY playing mode, allowing users without a MIDI controller to trigger notes using their computer keyboard. This mode includes velocity prediction based on the learned MIDI data and supports playing multiple notes simultaneously. Generated MIDI can be dragged and dropped into a DAW.
