Native Instruments releases Circular, an expressive polyphonic sequencer

Native Instruments has announced the release of Circular, an expressive polyphonic sequencer designed to evolve chord progressions into rhythmic soundscapes.

Circular features four independently modulated layers, allowing for real-time step control shaped by aftertouch. The instrument comes with over 100 experimental sound sources, including felted pianos, prepared guitars, hybrid synths, and bowed metal. It aims to transform static notes into dynamic, evolving patterns with per-step control over synthesis parameters, including sample selection.

Circular was designed by Frank Elting, who also led the concept, programming, and sample content for granular instruments Straylight, Pharlight, and Ashlight. He has previously collaborated with sound design agency The Most Human Colors, and sound designers Samuel Estes and The Solos.
