Moog Music Releases Messenger Preset Editor for Messenger Synthesizer

Moog Music has announced the release of the Messenger Preset Editor, a free standalone editor and librarian application designed to manage the Moog Messenger synthesizer. Available for Mac and Windows, the software provides a visual interface for the hardware instrument, facilitating sound design, sequencer programming, and patch management via USB.

The application offers a graphical interface that mirrors the Messenger's front panel, allowing users to adjust synthesis parameters on-screen. The system utilizes bi-directional synchronization; changes made on the hardware are reflected in the software, and vice versa. Beyond standard panel controls, the editor provides access to "under-the-hood" parameters typically found within the hardware's system menus. It also features a dedicated sequencer view for graphical editing of the instrument's 64-step sequencer, offering control over note data, velocity, modulation destinations, and probability settings.

The librarian section addresses patch management for the screenless hardware. Users can organize, tag, and search the 256-preset memory across 16 banks. The software supports drag-and-drop organization as well as full library backup and restoration. While currently available as a standalone application, Moog Music has confirmed that VST and AU plugin versions are scheduled for release in December 2025 to allow for DAW automation and session recall.
