Sonible Releases smart:comp 3 - Intelligent Compressor with New Compression Matrix

sonible has announced the release of smart:comp 3, a major update to its intelligent compressor plug-in. This latest version introduces a semantic approach to compression control, aiming to bridge the gap between technical parameters and musical intention through new visualization and workflow tools.

The update centers on the new Compression Matrix, a system designed to reduce trial and error by visualizing a spectrum of viable compressor settings based on the input signal's specific characteristics. Rather than generating a single static suggestion, the plug-in maps out a field of possible configurations, allowing users to explore different compression characters in real time.

smart:comp 3 also introduces functionality for group processing. Users can now link multiple instances of the plug-in to control compression across several tracks simultaneously. Like its predecessor, version 3 utilizes spectral compression technology to distribute gain reduction across the frequency spectrum, aiming to maintain tonal balance without the need for manual multiband configurations.
