Fine Increments has released Wavefield, a spectral filter plugin that uses wavetables as filter curves. Each frame of the wavetable maps directly to a spectral gain curve, allowing the filter shape to animate in real time as the wavetable position moves.
Wavefield includes three processing modes: Magnitude (direct FFT gain shaping), Spectral IR (convolution from wavetable frames as impulse responses), and Phase Warp (frequency-dependent phase rotation with harmonic dispersion). Wavetable position can be modulated via free-running LFO, host tempo sync, a step sequencer with per-step gating, or controlled/automated manually. A built-in wavetable editor supports up to 20 keyframes per cycle with smooth interpolation between them.
A proprietary stereo mode offsets the L and R channels to different wavetable positions simultaneously, creating frequency-dependent stereo width that evolves with filter movement and is mono compatible.
Additional controls include Skew (frequency mapping warp), Floor (minimum bin gain), Safe Bass (low-frequency bypass threshold), Smooth (Gibbs artifact reduction), and a chain offset knob for upstream PDC in DAWs that don't handle insert chain latency compensation automatically.
Wavefield is available for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU and AAX plugin formats for the introductory price of $39 through June 13, 2026 (Reg. $49).
