Force56 Audio Software has released LAR-32 Synth VST, a sample-based virtual instrument inspired by the classic Roland MT-32 sound module and its iconic late-80s / early-90s game music aesthetic.
Designed for retro game music enthusiasts, DOS game composers, synth collectors and nostalgic producers, LAR-32 Synth VST recreates the recognizable character of classic LA synthesis hardware directly inside modern DAWs on Windows and macOS.
The instrument focuses on the melodic sounds commonly associated with classic DOS adventures, Sierra-style soundtracks, retro RPGs and vintage MIDI composition workflows from the MT-32 era.
Unlike more technical MT-32 recreation workflows that require external ROM files and emulator configuration, LAR-32 Synth VST is designed as a straightforward plug-and-play instrument focused on immediate music production inside modern DAWs, offering instant access to classic MT-32 sounds.
LAR-32 Synth VST was built for musicians who miss the sound of classic PC game music, and for composers who grew up with the sound of DOS gaming.
Sound demos, screenshots, feature lists and downloadable demo versions for Windows and macOS are available on the official product page. The demo version offers a 2-day unrestricted evaluation period featuring four fully playable melodic banks with no audio interruptions or feature crippling.
