MeterPlugs has released Loudness Penalty 2, a major new version of the plugin that shows you how online streaming services will adjust your music's loudness — and lets you preview the result without leaving your DAW.
A new realtime Block View puts the complete loudness picture in front of you: max true peak, integrated loudness, and loudness range, at a glance. In Preview mode it also shows how each streaming service will adjust your gain, and what that does to the overall picture — whether your peaks will clip, and whether your track will be turned up or down.
Version 2 also emulates Spotify's Loud-mode limiter. When Spotify listeners select the "Loud" volume preference, quieter songs are turned up and a limiter steps in to prevent clipping. Loudness Penalty 2 shows that gain reduction in realtime and lets you hear exactly what the limiter removes, so you can decide whether you're happy with the result before you upload.
Loudness Penalty 2 supports YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, TIDAL, Deezer, and Pandora.
Loudness Penalty 2 is available now in AAX, AU, and VST formats for macOS and Windows. It costs $49 but is on sale now for 30% off. Existing v1 users can upgrade for 50% off during the intro sale.
