Bob Moog Foundation announces 2016 Raffle for Vintage Minimoog Synthesizer

-
Bob Moog Foundation

The Bob Moog Foundation has launched a raffle for a vintage Minimoog Model D synthesizer. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Foundation's educational and historic preservation projects. The raffle, which is open internationally, closes at midnight on April 25, 2016 or when all 2,000 tickets are sold, whichever comes first.

The Minimoog Model D is widely regarded as one of the most iconic synthesizers. When released in 1970, it represented a musical and technological revolution, with its combination of portability, affordability, accessible user interface, and innovative sounds and functions. Its robust construction has allowed the instrument to withstand the test of time.

The Minimoog Model D being offered, serial number 3137, was built at Moog Music's Williamsville, NY factory on February 7, 1974, and is valued in excess of $5,000. It is in excellent technical and physical condition and has been serviced by a technician with a long-time expertise in Minimoogs. This instrument is one of the later generation of Minimoogs, with updated oscillators that are more stable than their earlier predecessors.

The black walnut cabinet is brand new, hand-crafted by Wes Taggart of Analogics and donated to the Bob Moog Foundation. His donation is made as a tribute to Bob Moog's enduring work and legacy. Taggart is renowned in the synthesizer community for his craftsmanship and his adherence to original schematics and manufacturing specifications for the vintage Minimoog cabinets.

Tickets to enter the raffle are $20 each, or 6 for $100 and can be purchased through the Foundation's website.
