NAMM 2018Acustica Audio and D.W. Fearn release Ruby - a plug-in representation of the VT-5 stereo vacuum tube passive LC Equalizer
Acustica Audio and D.W. Fearn have released Ruby, which is described as a faithful plug-in representation of the D.W. Fearn VT-5 Equalizer.
Ruby is based on a unique, for the plug-ins market, non-linear Vectorial Volterra Kernels technology. Its sound is made of thousands of impulse response samples from the VT-5 hardware unit. The original equalizer uses passive LC circuitry with class-A triode vacuum tube stages for the input and output, and utilizes Jensen transformers.
Ruby comes with on option to switch on and off the derived-from-the-hardware harmonic and other distortions, which in the software is also represented dynamically. When disengaged the so called 'Preamp' function in Ruby allows for a cleaner tone.
Price: €235. It is available as a digital download in VST, AAX and AU formats immediately after payment. A fully functional 4 weeks Trial version is also available.
