BFD Drums has announced the launch of BFD Player, an extension of their BFD3 virtual drum software that provides users with high-quality drum samples and grooves. Best of all, it is available for all as a free download.
BFD Player's Core library includes over 5.25GB of content, offering users a comprehensive selection of drum kits that have been meticulously recorded by professional engineers. A built-in mixer provides plenty of on-board adjustment of the instrument's sound, and there are a range of presets to provide a starting point for those who are newer to music production. For more advanced users, the instrument supports multiple outputs, allowing the individual kit elements to be routed out to DAW tracks for more detailed processing.
Along with the selection of sounds, BFD Player also comes loaded with 340 grooves organised into categories such as genre, tempo and leading hand, making it easy for users to find the ideal drum part for their project.
In addition to the free Core library, BFD has released a pair of optional expansion packs extending the instrument's soundset.
The first, London 70s, provides an additional 2.94GB of content that includes extra six kit presets, as well as 178 grooves. The second, Dark Mahogany, adds another six kit presets and 348 grooves, totalling 10.52GB of content. More will follow in the months to come.
Compatibility
BFD Player is supported on PCs running Windows 10 and above, and Macs running macOS 12 or 13. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, and a standalone application is available.
Pricing & Availability
BFD Player is available now for free, and comes loaded with the Core library. The London 70s and Dark Mahogany expansions are then priced at $29.99 / £29.99 / €33.99 each.
