Del Norte EDM | Chill is a 2 Oscillator synthesizer with a 21 variation multi-mode filter, AMP EG, Filter EG, Pitch EG and 9 effects (Distortion, LoFi, GLITCH, Compressor, Transient Designer, 3-band Parametric EQ, Stereo delay and 2 convolution reverbs with custom and unique convolution reverb presets.
Designed by John "Skippy" Lehmkuhl, the interface is set up with powerful sound sculpting abilities while all residing on a single page inside the full version of Kontakt 5. John says most libraries are on 3-5 pages which slows down the programming process and because John is a veteran of programming thousands of sounds for hardware and software synthesizers, the interface is built for fast access to keep the creative juices flowing.
The library is built on foundation of 721 samples. They fall into 3 categories:
- 132 tuned percussive, string and wind "ATTACK" samples. These occupy the "ATTACK" OSC and were first highlighted in the Percussa Vol 1 rhythmic percussive grooves for Omnisphere 2.
- 36 multi-sampled Access Virus TI2 "BODY" Oscillators - that John Lehmkuhl created while spending 1 week in the Redwoods of Northern California (Del Norte County). After hiking thru the redwoods, he would come back to Crescent City and create these unique sounds at his AirBnB home with a converted living room/studio. These sounds range from the most dense unison pad sounds to haunting pure tones with motion in them. There are 13 samples in each patch and they were long-looped using Redmatica's Key Map Pro (no longer available but the best looping application available).
- 19 Single-Cycle synth sounds - created from "Maxwell" - John's 10-OSC modular synthesizer. These range from cool ATARI sounds to very high quality SAW, SQUARE and SINE synth sounds. This set of 19 waveform sounds can be found at the end of both the "ATTACK" and the "BODY" Oscillators for more flexible voicing options.
Combining unique attack sounds with beautiful Virus or modular synth waveforms makes this a unique library with a huge amount of flexibility. John says it's also unique that you can call up just the "ATTACK" Core presets and then layer these with any other software synthesizer to immediately change the sound to be a more modern/complex sounding synth.
Del Norte EDM | Chill retails for $49 but is available for $44 until Midnight of September 30th.
