RJ Studios has released Cans2Cones version 4, an updated version of their headphones-to-speaker emulator with new features including:
-
Completely revised DSP algorithm with more accurate spatial emulation and flat frequency response over the full audio range (+/-0.5dB).
-
Resizable UI that automatically scales up 2x for high resolution video monitors.
-
Double-click type in values for all controls.
-
Native Apple Silicon support.
Cans2Cones can help a listener make better mixes when monitoring through headphones by reducing the exaggerated stereo image and headphone compression effects.
Cans2Cones applies Interaural Time and Amplitude Difference (ITD and ITA) information to the stereo signal that emulates the distance and spacing of loudspeakers in a treated room. A special feature of Cans2Cones is a dynamic de-compression control which helps to overcome the compressed "in your head" sound that can occur due to the close proximity of headphone drivers to the eardrums.
Can2Cones includes a Quick Select menu that allows rapid comparison of common monitor speaker types and positions as well as a "subwoofer" control that extends the bandwidth of any "speaker" to full range.
Cans2Cones is a 64-bit plugin that supports VST, VST3 and AAX on x64 Windows and VST, VST3, AAX and AU on MacOS 10.11+ Intel and Apple Silicon.
Registered owners of previous versions have been offered a free update. New users are encouraged to try the free demos from the RJ Studios website.
