rncbc.org has announced the Halloween'24 release of Qtractor version 1.4.0, and the Vee One Suite version 1.1.3 of old-school software instruments, for GNU/Linux.
Changes for this Qtractor release:
- Improved color contrast on track and clip title labels, when given track foreground and background colors are too similar in lightness.
- Clip/Split now also applies to multiple selected clips, on any other track than current, if the split point (play-head) is found within.
- Clip Merge/Export... audio clips now taking the internal audio resolution (i.e. 64 frames/period), independent to former JACK/Pipewire buffer-size/period.
- New Clip Mute state property introduced.
- New MIDI clip tool option: Normalize / Compress.
- Prepping up next development cycle (Qt >= 6.8).

The Vee One Suite is comprised of four separate, autonomous software instruments, which are:
- Synthv1 - a polyphonic subtractive synthesizer.
- Samplv1 - a polyphonic sampler synthesizer.
- Drumkv1 - a drum-kit sampler synthesizer.
- Padthv1 - a polyphonic additive synthesizer.
All are being delivered in dual form:
- A pure stand-alone JACK client with JACK-session, NSM (Non/New Session Management) and both JACK MIDI and ALSA MIDI input support;
- A LV2 instrument plugin.
Changes for the Vee One Suite in this release:
- Prepping up next development cycle (Qt >= 6.8).
