Important Note
Third release on KVR (new version 1.0.8). This version is not yet signed. Here are few known issues: - Preset managment is missing and may not correctly load between versions. Defaults can restored from "burger menu" in upper right. - GUI is a bit confusing. - Builtin help is still missing. - Loads an entire file into memory and is therefore a memory hog. - THIS SOFTWARE IS A SERIOUS CPU HOG! I will continue to improve as I can but there is no clear way to optimize without sacrificing quality and features. Adjusting overlap and FFT sizes will alter quality and performance - for most cases, a 2048 FFT with 1/8 overlaps is fine. Finally, I want to apologize for the lack of a proper support page and/or documentation - but I will try to support as best as I can either through KVR or via e-mail (rblahut @ aol dot com). Cheers!

CONFIBLAHUTER is spectral mangling mono synth that permits freezing, stretching, shaping, and modulating of loaded audio files. This synth engine has many similar features as "paulstretch" but goes well beyond. A few highlights:

  • Can slow down audio to a freeze or speed up - independent of pitch (like many other phase vocoders) but with MIDI control and modulation possibilities.
  • Like the well-known "paulstretch" tool, it spread, hamonize, octave-ize, and distort in unique ways.
  • Use sidechain inputs and enable cross synthesis for vocoder like effects.
  • Main inputs can be used - mixed in addtion to a playing file.
  • Free-form filter to precisely mangle sonic spectra.
  • Many parameters can be modulated to make otherworldy textures.
  • Includes a record audio function (limited to 10 minutes).
  • Modulation matrix includes 4 LFOs, 4 AHDSR envelopes, and up to 4 MIDI controllers.
  • Main MIDI control on channel 1 and chord control on channel 2.
  • Change spectral signal processing flow of with simple drag-and-drop.
  • Enabling chord harmonizer function can transpose in up to a six-part chord.
  • Can export loaded audio into other formats including a higher quality MP3.

Here's a quick and dirty video demo I did a few months back covering the basics. This is using a previous version and the issues you may notice in the video have since been resolved. Enjoy.

Confiblahuter
Spectral Mangler Mono Synth
by mistakeartists.

This is a very useful and user-friendly sound-design tool. Its interface is very intuitively laid out, so just by testing its features with a few different samples, you can quickly learn how to use it.

Apart from its being able to slow down sounds extremely, I find Confiblahuter quite different in aim and approach from Paul-stretch. Neither tool sets out to do what the other specializes in.

Details: Confiblahuter comes in both stand-alone and vst3 formats.

From the first screen of four, accessible by buttons at the top left, you can load in samples. You can adjust the sample area you want to listen to by sliders, which also are available to control input / output levels, mix and pan, side-chain synthesis, pitch and in, main in / out, pitch bend, MIDI controllers. As well, there are buttons for enabling old-note, reverse, jump to loop, and note continuance. If you like what you hear, once you have made all your fine-tuning choices, you can live-record output to a file.

A second screen is dedicated to filter controls: Two sliders control mix levels of two free form filters, For either, you can draw your own filter shapes according to the real time spectral display and grid. As well, three curve types are available, with a reset button, also two sliders to adjust smoothness and curvature as minutely as desired.

The Settings screen provides sliders for FFT options (size, overlaps, window type and mode), amplitude scale, pitch bend depth and tuning. There are handy check boxes for correct phase, smooth phase and normalize.

The final screen is dedicated to the modulation possibilities of the synth: Four LFOs with dedicated wave shapes, also a whole range of different types for type 4, which has buttons for sync and reset. A very comprehensive modulation matrix is available, as well as one for assigning MIDI controllers.

In getting familiarized using this spectral mangling synth, after fifteen minutes or so, I found myself getting rather nice results - detailed ambient textures, from unexpected "noise" samples. In a way, the synth can function as a sound microscope, as well, helping bring out the hidden potential in everyday sounds. In my experience, it's a sound-design tool well-worth owning.

And for $10 USD, it's a bargain.

+1000 here. It looks legit but there's no demo, no video or audio either. I contacted the writer of the review but no response. Still, for $10 I may give it a go anyway.

this is not where audio demo material is supposed to go but i have not had the time to since "release" to make a proper mini-showcase. in the meantime, here is a well-known phill collins track "in the air at night" i processed as follows: i changed the fft mode to "washy", slowed down to about 50%, then under the "synth" section, i enabled compression, spread, tonal vs. noise, and the binaural beats sections, then tweaked various parameters over time. later in the sample, i engaged some pitch modulation. ok, here it is (uploaded to amazon s3 storage): https://collapsart.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/in-the-air.mp3 (13.7 meg).

Hi and thanks for the response and audio! I bought it and everything went fine through the KVR marketplace. Will get into this after work today.

this is developer again (randy blahut). i apologize again for a lack of a proper web site to back this up but i will do my best to support. i finally added a small audio sample showing some slow-down, chord harmonization, and basic modulation via MIDI controller, pitch bender, and an envelope. i have discovered that performance characteristicz vary quite a bit between host appz, platform, and/ stand alone mode. i will just say that an fft size 2048 with overlapz of 1/8 or 1/16 are decent starting point. i must also point out that previous settingz may not port correctly between versionz. anyway, i really appreciate ur patronage and ur input, if u have any. cheerz.
