ElectraX allows you to explore the musical possibilities of multi-synthesis oscillators, analog modeled filters, chaotic fractals, samples, psychoacoustic processing, flexible modulation and an immense sonic range. Combine multiple polyphonic or monophonic synthesizers and 13 different synthesis methods to create incredible results. All this comes with an easy-to-use interface, high-end sound quality and low CPU usage for an instrument as feature-rich as ElectraX. The preset management provides instant access to a large library of sounds by professional designers.

Oscillators
At the heart of ElectraX are the multi-synthesis oscillators with up to 18 oscillators per voice. With ElectraX you combine classic synthesis types like Virtual Analog, FM, Phase Distortion, Ultrasaw, Sync, Waveshaping, Wavetables, AM, and completely new oscillator types. It also opens unheard acoustic possibilities with its exclusive Fractal synthesis, which can be used to mimic the behaviour of organisms or analog circuits.

Samples and Wavetables
You can use ElectraX's sample oscillator to import your own waves - a quick import option is available to create custom patches or vocoder sounds based on your own samples with a mouse click. ElectraX ships with a large selection of licensed wave content, including morphable analog and digital wave types. In addition to this you can automatically resynthesize your own waveforms from samples or import custom wavetables.

Filters
Each synth's filter section consists of two multi-mode filters with 23 unique filter types and multi-mode distortion.
ElectraX comes with analog modeled filters, high precision digital filters, vocal filters, comb filters, phasers, equalizers and other exotic types. The warm-sounding filters are able to self oscillate and deliver a wide range of timbres due to the variable degree of analog behavior. A dual distortion unit offers six different modes. It can produce tube sound, known from analog pre-amp boxes, model a fuzzbox or do waveshaping.

Effects
ElectraX's master and insert effects sections include 18 high-quality effect processors, built and fine-tuned specifically to compliment the synth's sound such as: High-end Reverb, Multitap Delay, Vocoder, Chorus, Ensemble, Phaser, Flanger, Rotary, Surround encoder, Trancegate, etc.

Modulation
ElectraX's modulation makes use of punchy, analog sounding envelopes. Its high quality LFOs are syncable to BPM and can modulate up to the audible range. You can create rhythmic sequences or custom wave shapes with the step LFO. The flexible Modulation Matrix is easy-to-use and provides a good and instant overview of the active modulations. With the built-in 'MIDI-learn' feature it is possible to assign controllers with a single click.

Arpeggiator
One preset setup can handle up to four full-featured synthesizers with four independent arpeggiators and step sequencers. The arpeggiator supports autochord, swing, glide and keyboard splitting. This allows you to create impressive sequences with several instruments playing at the same time, providing a creative and hands-on experience for a life performance.

This synth looks like normal subtractive synthsizer. But it doesn't.

It has many option for synthesis, like FM, Subtractive, Waverables, Supersaws, Sampleplayback...etc.

And It has 4 layers. So you can layer FM Pad and Subtractive Pad and Wave-sequence in one patch.

That's incredible.

OK, it has many functions, but how about the sounds?

That's my main reason for choice VSTi.

The sounds... FM engine sounds like YAMAHA's DX series, its envelope is fast enough to create FM bass sound.

On Virtual Analog mode, oscillator is fat, and you can choise 18dB/Oct filters and its resonance can oscillate very smoothly like Roland's.

And the Wavetable synthesis sounds like PPG wave.

It seems the developer has huge love for synthsizer music!.

Adding above, you can make cutting edge bass sounds of dubstep or complextro.

Their official soundset ComplexDroids have one finger complextro patch.

4 layers, BPM syncable LFOs and many synthesis methods can do that .

The better you get to know synthsizer, the more you'll love Electra X.

I'm not review synthsizer usually, and not native English speaker so forgive my broken English.

I think this plugin is very underrated, the developer should have more attention.

That's why I wrote this.

I recommend ElectraX for everyone who love electronic sound..

Jap.... Endless row of possibilities to create any imaginable (and unimaginable) sound. In fact this is a 4-synth-unit, a really big machine. Running a single Osc and comparing it to.. let's say Sylenth I noticed that this one has a real digital sound which does not really change running several more Osc all on analog mode. But it has so much creative possibilities. I don'T know how much Waveforms any Osc provides, 40 ? 50 ? Countless ways of modulation, 3 LFO's, Insert FXs for all 4 Stages and a Master-FX... this is a true digital beast, a real king of class, I recommend it as must-have.

In March this year I published a review of ElectraX on my website. You can read the full review here:

Conclusion:
With ElectraX Tone2 again delivers a great product. The synth sounds great and offers lots of possibilities with a user-friendly interface. The Init-like patches work very well as a starting sound for your own sound. Every synthesizer should have them. ElectraX suits every music production which needs a synthesizer sound, but it would not surprise us if this VST-plug-in will be very popular among dance music producers.

Score: 9/10

+ Pros:

  • Fantastic sound;
  • Many synthesis options;
  • Clear, user friendly interface;
  • Relatively low CPU usage.

- Cons:

  • Interface features blooming effects one must love;
  • Limited number of effects you can use simultaneously.

Color me impressed.

Markus Feil and his team have done an excellent job with this synth! There's very little I don't like about it, and all those things are only slight niggles, like the absence of what's becoming an industry standard practice lately, right-clicking for MIDI learn. What's really important is there: THE SOUND.

How does it sound? Completely badass, that's how! It has a deceptively simple layout, but the signal can be radically modulated, even within the oscillator section. The filters are very powerful and sound as juicy and rubbery as you like, or as clinical and precise as you need them to. There are many different types, and all I've tried so far leave nothing to be desired. The new Moog filter is outstanding, and the fractal filters, though pretty bizarre, can allow for some really original, noisy, nasty sounds. Dubstep kids will have a blast with these!

The oscillator section is simply superb. There's a lot here, and I won't go into all the details, but I've not yet found an easier to use Wavetable implementation in a very long time. I'm very, very happy to have a synth with powerful wavetable capabilities that doesn't live in hardware. It's about time! I can't wait to hear the wavetables that get added in future updates. The stock ones are already incredibly useful, but I'd like to hear lots of morphing, twisting, stretching ones. The more the merrier! All the other oscillator types, including sample players, are pretty wicked. I'm really excited to see where all this goes in the future. The purity and power of these sources is astonishing... no aliasing or digital fluffiness anywhere to be found!

This synth is a dream to program once you understand the basics. You can whip out fantastic-sounding patches one after the other once you know your way around. Saving is not a hassle and is very straightforward. Creating a new patch is made easy with several useful templates on hand.

The effects, though often not complicated, generally sound superb. The reverbs seem especially tuned to synth sounds right out of the box so you don't have to go tweaking. The modulation effects sound very rich and sweet. The delays are quite flexible, and everything else generally does its job with aplomb. No complaints!

All around, this is a fantastic-sounding synthesizer, and the various Output modes, such as Psychoacoustic, are really the icing on the cake. There are very few, if any, soft synths currently available that are capable of sounding this rich and powerful with so little tweaking. I have many, and I love a lot of them, but this just makes everything so simple... everything's laid out sensibly, and I can go about as fast as I can think. Brilliant!

Now, if they'd just let me MIDI learn knobs without accidentally sending me to their website every other time...
