Couture gives you control over your dynamics, and particularly attacks.

Raw Efficiency. Increase or decrease dynamics. Get a usable result, now.

Fully Volume-independent. Keep the freedom to change input gain when needed. Including the Saturation stage.

Laser-sharp. Couture's 2-bands, half-spectral, RMS, program-dependent detector finds each and every transient. No internal thresholds.

Couture is very versatile:

  • Make individual drum tracks a lot more dynamic and punchy
  • Remove the "click" out of a kick drum sample
  • Make a whole bus more or less dynamic in a single click
  • Give glue to a mix with light compression and saturation.
  • Use a subtle saturation that preserve dynamics.
  • Deess the very start of notes for vocals.
  • Give life to inane lead synths.

Couture is a great shaper for drums and especially percussions. I use it most of the time to add punch or snappiness to the tracks.

I have seen videos of people using it on a master bus, but I'm not sure that is the correct use of this plugin.

We put that in an example on the website, but I agree it can be a bit much on the master bus especially with comple dynamics Couture will struggle. This can be appropriate on the master bus for a dance mix before a limiter or clipper, to smash it more.

Good plugin. I run Reaper 6.03 native Linux, and I have Couture embedded in a couple of drumset track templates. I've been exploring compression and saturation on drum tracks recently, and the ability to add saturation and shape transients in a single plugin is great, especially on cymbals.

I have a couple of drumset templates where I send the cymbals to a separate submix, and send that submix through Couture. The transient and saturation controls give me lots of flexibility while mixing.

I started with the free version, but wanted the saturation, so I bought it. I'm glad I did. I only use the Sin, Bass and Tube saturation settings, (the others are a bit too intense for me) but as I said, they work great on cymbals.

I specifically got it for drum tracks, and it does the job well...
