The API 565 Filter Bank is a unique and powerful tone-shaping tool for the 500 series format, designed to perfectly complement API's range of parametric and graphic equalizers. Rather than offering boost and cut controls, the 565 provides a versatile set of sweepable high-pass and low-pass filters, along with a variable notch filter. This makes it an indispensable problem-solver, ideal for cleaning up tracks by removing unwanted low-end rumble or high-end hiss, isolating specific frequency ranges, or creatively shaping sounds in a way that traditional EQs cannot. It's a secret weapon for creating space in a mix and for dramatic, sweeping filter effects.

The 565 is thoughtfully laid out in three distinct sections. The first is a sweepable low-pass filter, continuously variable from 500Hz to 20kHz, with a classic 12dB/octave slope. The second is a sweepable high-pass filter, adjustable from 20Hz to 400Hz, also with a 12dB/octave slope. Each of these filters can be independently bypassed. The third section is a variable notch filter, which offers a deep cut across a sweepable frequency range. The notch filter has a switch to select between a narrow and wide Q, allowing for either surgical removal of problematic frequencies or broader tonal shaping. This module is perfect for cleaning up microphone bleed, eliminating hum or noise, and for creating classic telephone or lo-fi effects.
