Arguably one of the best free soft synths out there in 2020. The dev is super responsive to feature requests, the synth is rock solid, feature rich and amazing sounding. Definitely a keeper.

I'm glad, there is an Update. Nice to see evolution process.

Now the way better GUI is resizable. Looks better and smoother.

The sound and the modulation are very good...as we know.

Drag and draw for underscored text makes editing easy...very good...like it.

Issues/ ideas:

  • to see the different Sections is still not very easy, but i am hopefully (little ideas below).
  • minor clicks when playing with the relative strange Envelopes (attack and decay), dont know why, quality and render is on 4, but cranking decay to an envelope edge/spike it clicks while playing.
  • envelope/ filter visuals can be out of visible range, best to see if AR down DS up, or gain and multiplier of Filters is up.
  • the border around the plugin is unnecessary, just thinking.
  • knob resets with double click, like other plugins would be nice.
  • presets BASS/BASS 2, if changing quality over x1, the sound goes quite (its the replaced actual presets folder).
  • rendering seems to have no effect hearable effect ???
  • you can really crank that volume (gain, resonance) up and can possible damage the ears.
  • some Textparts are a bit too blurry, especially when increase the size of the Plugin.

2 Align/ Design Ideas just 4 fun (Unfortunately, I can not edit plugins as I wanted):

Hi, i like that color and that sound too, that sub-basses are nice.

There nice possibilities to tweak sounds, waiting also for the new update of Lith.

I am with Zipede that need tweaks at the GUI. i read about u will realize it.

Here some other points:

- To see the different sections it needs a bit visual help. from left to right signal flow could be a idea. (still in 2.0.2).

- that mouse over flickering is not too bad but inverse that fx is maybe better. (obsolete better in 2.0.2).

- activated buttons are bad visible if an param is highlighted. (now better in 2.0.2).

- find out wich paraneter can switch is not visibe, like "osc mode" or "sub mode".

- if LFO synced, we see just Hz as a feedback, not 1/4 2/8 etc... (better in 2.0.2).

- the Sound Quality of LOW is too bad with crackle and noises, not useable. (better in 2.0.2).

- basic setup on normal quality should be nice, or free choose.(better solved in 2.0.2).

- I miss a kind of randomisation for parameters, if somebody is boring to tweak. (not found in 2.0.2).

- switching presets with arrow needs a magnifying glas. scroll and click presets can be nice. (not sure, but is okay in 2.0.2).

- there is much un-used place, use it;).

Great Project and thank you for its free for this time...

Cheers.

Great sound, but the GUI is difficult to work with. Are there any plans to update the GUI?

I plan to add small and large toggles.

Which point do you find difficult? Knob style? layout?

If find the sliders a bit too small, it would be nice if they looked like real sliders. Also the GUI dimming as you hover over things is a bit distracting.

But, hey, the sound really is lovely.

True, GUI size is a consideration.
Oh, distracted! Such comments are very grateful. I didn't notice it myself.
I'll allocate more resources to improve GUI.

I'm glad you liked the sound. I will write a detailed document about the sound.

I see 32-bit is available now! Thank you graciously for supporting 32-bit VST2 format. Many abandon it, but it still works well in certain DAW versions.

Hi, I ran the newly installed Lith 64-bit AU by Logic plugins manager and this is the conclusion of the failed validation report:

# # # 162 Global Scope Parameters:
ERROR: Parameter values are different since last set - probable cause: a Meta Param Flag is NOT set on a parameter that will change values of other parameters.

Hi, I like the concept and the presets are very nice.

Sound : I find a huge difference in sound and CPU consomption when changing the quality. At the best quality, there is still a lot of aliasing when using sawtooth and other waves. Maybe some work to do there. Almost unusable in some cases.

GUI : Buttons are very small and you shoul improve the contrasts between buttons and the fill. Also the dialog which asks you if you want to save your preset is very annoying.

I would like the ability to reset buttons to zero with the left mouse or double click. This dimming GUI is distrating, almost like having a bulb in front of you.

Your envelopes gui is a bit small but otherwise I like it a lot.

Cheers.

Hi, fifou64.

Yes, I should adjustments of alias noise thing.
And I also need to make major changes to the GUI.

Assigning mouse action is worrisome.
There are 3 items: reset, prompt, and control menu.
I still have to think about it.
Your comment was very helpful, Thank you.

Hello, Halonmusic.

Does the problem always occur in the same situation?
Is it possible to have the project file sent?

I also use a reaper as the main, so I think it's relatively easy to fix.

Thank you much for sharing and for portable ver. as well!
I'm impresed of functionality for free synth.
It's almost what I want to see on a synth.
Pulse width modulation on all waves and even on LFO (My inner Nick Batt is happy:)
Curve is everywhere and we can modulate it.
But I currently find params aren't handy to adjust and especialy LFO rate (missing of a knob:(and tempo sync I expect to see like 3/8, 1/4, 3/16 and ect.
Also value of params should move to a next level when they's reached a big amount (I mean ms to sec, Hz to kHz)
Lith eats about 15% of my CPU even track's Fx is switched off on Reaper.
And it's lack of a global modulation matrix where we could modulate everything with everything.

NWSM

11 November 2019 at 6:37am

Ah, yes i wrote him about that tempo sync, actually you have 1,2,3,4 beats and so on and it is in sync. But i want to see that 3/16 thing also...so its just the musical display feedback, and its easier for musicians to read.

That Quality and CPU Problem is interessting, i can run more that 15 instances of Lith and only on pads or when the Quality is turned up my CPU (i7) sucks and crackle noises...also sometimes the sound goes away you edit the Quality (Q) settings. Mostly Q and R (Render) is x1. In previous Versions some sound where not useable if Q was x0,5...

Haha, your right...if you turn up release i can have 0,01 ms to 32000,00 ms. Good points.

I think he works hard and he is fast...imho...

Cheers.

I suspect the graphics I've run 12 Liths here's about 30% CPU when it's playing and open only one window of synth (2 and more of opened Liths are only about 38%) but when close a synth's window it's 15%-ish.

BTW the quality toggle doesn't give tangible effect (on CPU at least (I didn't notice (needs more tests))).

I appreciate his(or her or they (sorry)) time of course.

I forgot to say a envelope window shows almost only little values (it ends on about 400 ms and quite confuses).

Ivannn

btw I can live without that visualisation on evelopes and filters as well (especially if it's hard to manage and increase CPU usage).

Oh, I missed the message here.
Notification settings are off by default.
I turned on it.

I will think about how to express the LFO and the envelope.
Performance issues will improve further.

Although it may take some time, I will consider all the opinions I received.
I am very happy to receive your opinions.

Does this synth offer sounds that I wouldn't be able to get/create from serum or Ableton stock synths (like analog)? Worth the download and install?

There is no demo video or SoundCloud clips that I can find.

SodaDevices
SodaDevices
24 November 2019 at 2:13pm

There is no demo movie, but One Synth Challenge # 129 is now being held,
There are outstanding tracks already uploaded.

The waveform used by this synth was sampled from an real analog oscillator.
If you'd like, Install it and see how it differs from other synths.
You can also determine how much is worth it.

Hello,
It seems to be a bit of a complicated issue.
The setting files are being generated, but there seems to be an error.
Furthermore, the lack of sound seems to be another problem.
Can you erase the whole Dir with the setting files and try again?
