Meet Revolv, a new plugin that takes your audio to new locations – Place it in a serene Swedish forest, or make it sweat in a wooden sauna. Explore historically and acoustically unique locations, such as the medieval Gotland ruins or Uppsala Cathedral. This visually stunning and uniquely crafted plugin is built from the ground up, using meticulously recorded impulse responses that infuse your music with ambiance and authenticity, setting it apart from the rest. A time machine for your audio.
A labor of love and obsession
At the heart of Revolv is the dedication of our close friend and sound enthusiast, Oscar Björk, who embarked on an epic journey across Sweden, capturing the unique acoustic fingerprints of a diverse selection of handpicked locations. His passion for preserving the soul and sound of these locations has resulted in an extraordinary collection of impulse responses, each a testament to his painstaking efforts and deep appreciation for Sweden's acoustic heritage.
Wheels of time
Revolv features an innovative design, revolving around "location/time wheels" and a loupe selector. Simply move the selector around the wheels to change location and sound. Each location also offers a detailed view where you can learn more about the site and customize the decay, predelay, and width, as well as adjust your microphone preference and recording distance. Six wheels are available, each representing a group of locations, ranging from rare and quirky to epic halls.
Technical brilliance, yet no AI - How does it work?
A convolution reverb works by combining an input signal with an impulse response (IR), creating a blend of your audio and the recorded space's acoustics. This process, though complex, is seamlessly handled by Revolv, providing you with a unique and user-friendly interface and a wealth of acoustic environments at your fingertips.
Revolv's collection of impulse responses is entirely hand-collected/recorded, curated, and processed without the use of artificial intelligence. Each IR is a genuine audio snapshot of a space's natural acoustics, ensuring that the reverb you add to your recordings is as real and rich as the location itself. This authenticity makes Revolv an invaluable tool for musicians, sound designers, and audio engineers, particularly in fields like film and video game scoring where convincing space replication is crucial.
While convolution reverbs are known for being CPU- intensive, Revolv's design ensures efficient performance without compromising the quality.
