I have try a lot of filter, fabfilter, soundtoys, ... Every of this plugins have their own sound, the soundtoys is just really good you can achieve a lot of interesting things with it.I had really like the sound on the output when you overload it, very good 'tape style' saturation...Yeah, I know, the filter from soundtoys are excellent, but Philta XL is not the same tools, you can achieve something else with it. The Philta XL (i discover it with the CM version) is just a killer filter, i love the slope :12db, 24db, 48db or 96db, it contains a few other tools :
variable filter resonance width.
band pass & notch mode (phaser).
2 tempo synced LFOs (for low and highband) with 5 LFO shapes.
2 envelope follower (for low and highband) with variable source frequency.
filter saturation / distortion (pre or post filter).
rate reducer / bitcrusher (pre or post filter) linkable to cutoff frequency (LFO&Env).
What i really enjoys, it is the workflow, very easy to understand and it easy to create crazy stuff with it .
I own the FX essential 1 & 2 /Philta XL and the Multiband Compressor. These plugins are really good, they are TRUE creative FX, I don't know how i have done without it before.special mention to the V-Verb, it is AMAZING, the modulation on this one is just something unique.
