The VQA-154 is a faithful recreation of a sought-after 70s 4- band equalizer module that made its way into many broadcasting and production studios worldwide. The plugin emulates the entire audio circuitry including the capacitor/inductor based mid band filters, the discrete output stage as well as the transformers. A set of convenient features comprising adjustable input drive, continuous filter gains, stereo operation and channel linking, a mid/side mode and a linear output level control have been added in the digital domain.
The VQA-154 is a very versatile and easy to use EQ which provides classy and pleasant sounding coloration that always sounds musical, no matter how far you push it.
Available in VST, VST3, AAX Native, AudioUnits for Mac OS and Windows in 32 and 64-bits.
Quite a bit of mojo in this one.
Even subtraction manages to add something good :P
There's a billion other EQs out there with promo material that also talks about its pleasant sounding coloration or its vintage whatever... so i'll just say, demo this one. Let the thing speak for itself. Apparently the whole signal path has been modelled. It shows i think. I downloaded the demo without reading any of the blurb, and thought there must be more going here than just an equalizer.
I've never used the hardware, but if i did, i'd have to own a few, cos VQA-154 sounds good everywhere.
The $29 intro price makes for an instant buy, even if you didn't think you needed another eq.
There are plenty of plugin developers out there shovelling far less mojo for far more money, that's for sure.
