I think one of the reasons why these kinds of threads are all over the map is that there are many sub-styles of Trance. What do you think "Trance" is? Ferry Corsten? Oliver Lieb? Simon Posford (aka Hallucinogen)? Infected Mushroom? BT? Are we talking Psy/Goa? Tribal? Acid? Ibiza? Hands-in-the-air Epic/Anthem shite? Those travesty simplifications of great classical works using 1200 supersaws detuned across 6 octaves slammed against a hard limiter until it becomes a 9 minute square wave consuming the entire frequency spectrum?
Not too long ago, a lot of Trance artists got by with an Access Virus, Novation Supernova, TR808/909, maybe a 303 and some kind of bread'n'butter ROMpler like Roland JV/XV series or Korg Triton. Then, of course, the various classic analogs like MS20/50, Juno 106, Arp 2600 etc... The vast array of VST instruments and effects these days is almost overwhelming. Of the instruments on your list, they can all be used for Trance. Most artists don't just use one synth anyways, so the whole idea of this thread is kind of meaningless. They mix and match a variety of sounds to get the results they're looking to achieve. Not to mention that in the hands of different people, the results will be widely varied.
Moral of the story: There is no red button!

The best one is the one you don't have yet or, even better, can't afford.
“Somebody said to me, ‘But the Beatles were antimaterialistic.’ That’s a huge myth. John and I literally used to sit down and say, ‘Now, let’s write a swimming pool.’ ”

It's kind of funny how highly rated z3ta+ is on the list as a "Trance" VSTi to those of us that remember when it was originally released. The irony is that Trance was not the focus of the instrument when René designed it. The "good for Trance" reputation didn't come until a while later when he released an update that replaced several of the original factory banks with a mountain of new patches more geared for that style. What's even more funny is how quickly people's opinions changed about it. Tons of folks thought that René had overhauled the filters, oscillators and effects since everything sounded so much phatter, warmer, thicker, luscious, blah blah... It was a textbook example of how much of an impact the presets can have on people's impression of an instrument and how different it can sound in the hands of a skilled sound designer. He hadn't changed the sound engine at all.
