Sorry, couldn't resist comparing it with Superior drummer 2 and BFD2... Let a new KvR fanboy war begin!
Of course SD2 and BFD2 are bigger and have more features, but I think NI may be on to something. Studio drummer seems to be as simple to use as EZdrummer and have a lot more options and effects, comparable to the bigger players SD2 and BFD2. Studio drummer doesn't have that many drumsets for now, but that can change in the future with perhaps more products in the Studio drummer line.
Since many already have Kontakt, I guess NI:s strategy is to use the widespread familiarity of the Kontakt GUI to attract.
Another question is, do you trust NI to stay with and support this product in the long term, or will they just dump it in some 3-4 years, like the do with so many other of their products?
Anyway, any thoughts?

They're showing it inside "Kontakt Player"... I'd hope that any technological improvements to the player would be included in the full version.hibidy wrote:You'd have to, unless K5 has some kinda groove machine in it.

No other sampling platform provides such depth, authenticity, and responsive performance — STUDIO DRUMMER puts the newest features of KONTAKT 5 through their paces.
STUDIO DRUMMER runs in both KONTAKT 5 and the free KONTAKT 5 PLAYER.

You can make a piece of music from MIDI files and it's essentially no different from Jamstix at the end of the day. The only difference is that MIDI is fixed, Jamstix isn't.
I usually use MIDI files as the basis for Jamstix anyway then let it add some color and a few rolls.

NI should include a variety of mixing presets and let the user save his/her own mixing presets, too.
Could be pretty wild drumsets there if, by using the Kontakt full version, one can edit the drums even more using the other Kontakt soundshaping tools, effects etc...
