Agree on that, but this topic was about beautiful design, not about good design.zerocrossing wrote:It's funny to me to see how many people seem to dig eye candy at the expense, or absence, of good UI design. For me, I could care less about pretty designs if the interface is clear and intuitive. Right now, the best UI I can think of is Serum. So clean and easy to use.

Horrible IMO.

Most beautiful synths I have and most inviting to load and play/tweak/design with are:
1. Retrologue
2. Massive
3. PadShop Pro
4. Vacuum Pro
5. Oberheim SEM V
Nicest Drum instrument is Battery 4 (Love its interface design )
Synths that I don't have but I think they have very beautiful and inviting interface:
1. Diva
2. Razor
3. Largo
4. Spire
5. Monark
Threre are many others as well like Diversion, Zebra, Serum, Dune, Blue, Albino, Alchemy ..etc but I tried to just list the ones that has/had the most 'wow' factor for me

I really love Absynth as a synth. So deep and capable synth but the interface is not easy on the eyes although it matches the weird sounds it can produce!hibidy wrote:To second some of that, I really like NI interfaces in general. They look good, mostly easy to use and quite functional. Absynth being the exception
Oh, I can't believe that I forgot to mention Reason's synths as very inviting ones to play with especially Subtractor and Malstrom. Thor also has a beautiful interface. If they only make them bigger little bit, but I'm afraid that the vectorizing will make them without a soul Anyway, we will see what version 9 would bring.

Oh and two others that I had to give some love on looks...Though I dont use Waves codex nearly as much as element I do feel they created another gorgeous synth interface...
and this little guy bundled with studio one. I havent actually found much of a use for it myself but always found its simplicity and light color scheme easy on the eyes.
