I never have problems with it, used it in tons of songs with many instances running.bailees7irish wrote:Too bad it's Synth Edit. Most SE stuff doesn't get on with my setup.Examigan wrote:Since you like to compare things:Ingonator wrote:

Thanks for the compliment Ingo. Coming from you it means a lotIngonator wrote:
Hi fernando,
nice to hear this. I am sure your patches will sound great like always.
I anyone with a OB-Xa here it would be nice to hear the sounds from "the real thing" but as you mentioned the OB-8 should not sound too much different.
A differnce seems to be in the 12db and 24db modes as the OB-Xa has two differnt circuits for thsoe whice the Ob-8 uses a single IC for creating the 12dB and 24db filter. Both OB-Xa filter circuits are shown here:

Too bad he didn't run the extra mile and make it a JX-10/MKS-70. And port it to C++ cross-platform too, of course.
It's amazing how such good projects come up every once in a while, and then return to obscurity. I hope Martin will retake it up soon

many thanks for those. Just downloaded and will have a lok ASAP.
Was just doing smome more of my own sounds, last one was a Sync Lead. Of course as i love both Synth Brass and Synth Strings i'll do a lot of those (and have already done some). As i have created such sounds for almost any synth i own i'll try to recreate those which are possible and/or worth it.
OBXD seems to be perfect for Synth Brass sounds as it has a good low end, a bright nad/or "clear" sound, could also sound "warm" and also the envelopes seem to work for those sounds (the envelopes are very importan for those Brass sounds).

You're welcome. And yes, polyphonic Obies were known and famous for their strings and brass sounds.Ingonator wrote:Hi Fernando, fmr wrote: And since 2Dat has nothing against, here is the link for the bank:

Have also tried to compare with the new Uhbie filter in Diva (suing Jupiter 8 modules for Oscs and envelopes). Whie this sounds great too it also sounds differently compared to OBXD. In fact OBXD seems to sound differently to many or een most other synths (which is not a bad thing).

I tried that too, but I conclude that the Oscillators in DIVA sound completely different than OB-Xd. This is more evident when you combine square and saw. In the OB-Xd you notice very well when they are combined, while in DIVA, when you activate the pulse/square, it sounds so much more powerful that the saw is submersed by it. I already mentioned this to Urs, and he told he would check that. Anyway, I suspect that the Oscs are indeed different, even in the real hardware synths.Ingonator wrote:Have also tried to compare with the new Uhbie filter in Diva (suing Jupiter 8 modules for Oscs and envelopes). At least he has a real OBX to compare to.

I was experimenting with another synth recently, and I discovered that to a certain degree a lot of the energetic Oberheimish sizzle sound can be emulated by manipulating a regular synth output with a parametric EQ. There seem to be certain frequency bands typical of the Oberheim sound...2DaT wrote:Its very nice bank. Of cousre you can upload it here.fmr wrote: That Patch Book is from OB-Xa, not OB-X. I did reprogram the entire book, using for sound reference the sounds of the OB-8 in Synthmania (the majority of the sounds are the same, although there are some different names, and the synths are very much alike).
I wasn't obsessed with recreating the same sounds, so, I did some "free adaptations". 2Dat already has the bank, to eventuallyu include it oin the final version, but I can make it available publicly available, if he has nothing to object (I am not being paid or something, but since I sent it to him, I feel like he should be heard about this.
If he has nothing against, I will upload the bank. It has 128 patches, including all the "FMR versions" of that Patch Book.
I dont think that ob-xa and obxd are the same. While they can be close, obxd will never have characteristic ob-xa and ob8 filter "sizzle" of CEM 3320 chips. More close to SEM and ob-x though

so which hardware version is the soft version meant to be emulation ?
the OB-X is diff to the OB-Xa/OB-8
i thought it was the OB-Xa
the the sonicprojects one is emulating the OB-X isnt it?

Yes, very different in a very positive way Some of it is probably due to the voices being spread across the panorama. I suppose the frequencies of the individual notes are not "fused" into one this way, thus avoiding that smooth, smeared sound.Ingonator wrote:Have also tried to compare with the new Uhbie filter in Diva (suing Jupiter 8 modules for Oscs and envelopes). One can hear it on the OBXD as well, when you compare the same pad with all pan knobs set to zero vs across the panorama.
