Hi I'm interested in generative music and graphics, maybe someone here is into that. I'm looking for programs to just use the presets or already made files, and start tweaking them a little, not learning the whole program, because nowadays those programs are too complex.

Nice list, dformd. I would also add

Metasynth and Artmatic from U&I software
Numerology from Five12
Lots more iPad apps like Stria, Slicer, etc

Also XX from U&I...a little pricey but helpful

ok, thanks, if anybody has some experience with those programs, could you point one or ones that produce some stuff out of the box, and I can tweak a little to get some motion graphics and music without the need to learn a complex language?

it's not that I'm lazy, just if someone knows what I mean and knows the right programs, it would be great, so I don't download and install maybe 10 programs before getting something useful. thx.

i liked windchimes, so far.

Well, it's kinda hard to tell you what "the right programs" are, given that I'm not in your head.

For example, Nodal is a wonderful tool that offers tons of presets for it's generative music sequencer, which is in itself (from my point of view) also a cool source of visual feedback.

That said, I'm also not sure how MUCH tweaking you want to be able to do. For example, many of Dmitriy Vlasiliev's Reaktor ensembles offer a wonderful combination of audio and visual feedback/integration, usually with presets, but aren't exactly tweaker heaven unless you want to delve under the hood and start to figure out how he made them.

So, it's hard to know how much creative control you want, or may eventually want.
Asking for "the right programs" is asking a lot. I have no idea what kind of visuals you want, what kinds of sounds you want to hear, and how much flexibility you want. I'm also not certain you're looking for plugins.

However, given that this IS the instrument plugin forum section, I'll suggest your best route MAY be to get Reaktor and explore the wealth of user made generative audio/visual experiments offered in the Reaktor User Library; some of which I posted links to in my first post.

As a side note (from instrument plugins), this (which I posted previously) can generate a wide range of audio/visual mayhem with little input,

but I forgot to post the example links (presets), so here's some:
NOTE: you need to use the Chrome browser for this shit; otherwise the links don't load and the graphics are crap.

As another side note (from instrument plugins) you may want to take a look and listen to user-made Max/MSP offerings and consider that route. Not sure how much you want to invest (monetarily speaking) into this venture.

well, i want complete music i.e. multiple instruments, better if there's percussion, just by loading a preset or user created file. and tweak, like, instruments, scale, basic stuff. And visuals, well I guess I want complex graphics just from presets, not a lot of programming needed, i.e. high level control, as opossed to low level control (in programming terms). I'll check out your quotes. Thx.

Ok, I think I have a bit of a better picture in my head of what you're after; thx; you can likely disregard everything I linked to then.

I like Nodal, but if there are a ton of presets I have not found them…..

you're correct; 14 presets are in no way "tons" as I wrote; not sure why I wrote that. Think I was feeling pissy.
