Better or equal to expensive synths

Sometimes cheap or, even, free synths are better or at least equal to more expensive ones. Like Memorymoon's ME80 being and sounding way better then Arturia's CS80 V.
What cheap/free top 5 VSTi synts do you consider as better or equal to comparable synths from the more expensive acts?

I have tested the ME80 against the CS80V and it most certainly didnt strike me as better sounding, let alone 'way better sounding'.
I really wish people would stop going around claiming such things as if they were proven agreed upon fact without at least demonstrating what exactly they are talking about.

If they really would be superior to the more expensive equivalents, they could be charging more
I'll take the liberty to rephrase the question a bit and not look into direct equivalents of top VSTs, but great inexpensive (under $50) VSTs in their own right. Which ones qualify is entirely up to your specs and taste.
Here's a few...
Physic Modulation Phonec
Xhun Audio LittleOne
Gunnar Ekornas' Messiah and Memorymoon
Sound Guru The Mangle
Humanoid Sound Systems Scanned Synth Pro and Enzyme

I assume you're talking to me nix808? I'm totally innocent, just trying to help out
Since the ones I mentioned off the top of my head are all very different, it would be hard to choose a highest recommended one. Phonec has a wonderful LoFi flavor, LittleOne, Messiah and Memorymoon are all recreations of hardware synths, The Mangle is a granulator.
I'd say Scanned Synth or Enzyme are probably the most versatile in range of sounds from those...

Well, as has already been said, you usually get what you paid for. I was quite stunned when i saw what my first payware plugin, z3ta+, was capable of... never seen so much functionality in any freeware.

i dunno, but i wish more of the expensive vst devs would have more sales like cakewalk's $19 deals!
slashing dim pro's $99 tag to $19 was awesome!
