At Facebook they announced a new synth. Maybe a big update or so. What do you think?

Looks like more of the same to me, I long since lost interest in making the effort to try to differentiate between their products...

It looks like a v2 of one of my favorite synths of all times: ElectraX

An update to Electrax would be most welcome. I want more of those morphable waveforms. They're great.

Needs more lens flare
How stupid is announcing a new synth without audio demos?

The logo at the top right of the synth panel (and therefore near the top left of the image) does appear to suggest ElectraX 2.

It appears that the visible controls are the same as ElectraX 1. So I'm curious what changes they've made. I always liked that synth, had it for a while and sold it early on due to some weird behaviour that was since fixed. But have always been thinking of rebuying.
If the controls all appear to be the same, then the new things must be in menus. New waveforms? New import methods or analysis? I always thought electarx would be cool with a granular mode as it's sample playback was very basic.

Can't wait for whatever it is! I love their stuff.

What do you think? Electra X better than Dune 2 ? Features

Well, Dune's good for big stacks of fairly conventional synthesis techniques. Tone2 generally have something up their sleeve in terms of unusual sound-generating techniques (which then get obscured by fairly mainstream sound design techniques in the factory presets).
I was a bit underwhelmed with the fractal stuff in Electrax 1 but it was worth a try and the overall sound is good and I'd expect them to either cross-pollinate from Nemesis with basic FM or some granular-type stuff from RayBlaster or resurrect the HCM stuff from FIrebird/Gladiator if they don't have anything particularly new.
