I used SPICE 2g6 back in the day when schematic capture was not even a thing! Had to manually enter all your components and nodes in text!

SPICE tends to be a bit slow for realtime effects though. Yes I'm just kidding. :-)

The Axxe, wow I hope you kept it, probably worth a lot of money.

Edit: ... Wow a lot of incredible info today.

Scrubbing Monkeys, thanks so much for your comments on the DDL and Reverb,
the fact that they are good enough for anyone to want to route through them,
is basically the best compliment they can get (I may post that on the web site :)

Good news on the keytrack display, which in 108 will be overlayed on a
full graphical keyboard image, so you know exactly which notes are which,
and middle C will be marked.

I think both Reverbs have dry and mix to exactly control the balance,
but let me know if you need something more detailed than that.

Yes, frequency keyboard tracking will be done on all filters soon.
Based on your comment I will move that up the list of priorities, maybe 1.0.9.

Wow, Shane and Alexander would be willing to share notes on analog saturation,
I would jump at the chance for that.

Scott, thanks for link on tube distortion, I will take a look.

... Edit.

Yes, the one thing Fathom needs improvement on is modeling
true analog sound. Which is why I'm looking for some good
oscillator, filter and distortion algorithms.

Emulating the zener diode would be perfect for overdrive waveform deformation and clipping,
but I'm really looking for that warm analog "fuzz", and it's very hard to duplicate.

Currently I am using my own algorithm which employs a balance of harmonic and random frequency modulation.
It sounds ok, but it's still not warm" enough for my taste.

The distortion in 108 will be significantly improved by using a balanced random signal
for the frequency deviation rather than a pure random signal, which tends to produce
too many clicks and pops, so the new distortion will be just as gritty but also smoother.

True, it doesn't take much looking around the net to find that the digital emulation of "warm" tube distortion is somewhat of a holy grail. A tall order indeed.

Thats awesome to hear on the keyboard overlay. Good idea.

When I mentioned controlling the signal to the reverb I was thinking if I had two Osc and I wanted one Osc to have more rev. Sure I could add another rev module but it would probable have the same sttings as the other. Seems like a waste of resources. I can think of several other cases where I would want to use different levels of different sources into the same destination.

Really looking forward to the next release.

Not sure about Shane or Alex and their wilingness but Alex released his stuff as freeware. He is also is a very active KVR developer.

check out 30d in particular.

Or maybe contact Andy from https://cytomic.com/ for some advice, he's active on KVR as well.

I was looking around an noted that the FXpansion Strobe 2 site links directly to Roli since Strobe 2 now supports MPE.

If making Fathom MPE compatible isn't much of a stretch, polishing that feature and working with the people at Roli might help generate better visibility for Fathom. Roli is really pushing MPE and seems happy to promote VST's and DAW's that work with their keyboards by supporting MPE.

Having a link to Roli on your page like Strobe 2 does and getting a link to your page on the Roli site would be a good thing no doubt.

ScottAxxe, Very interesting, sounds like a win win situation to cooperate with Roli
on a technology they see a big future in.

This week I've been immersed in coding the host parameter automation and getting it ready for 108,
but after it is released I will devote some time to studying the MPE links and material.
If Steinberg supports it in CuBase, then I hope that means that VST 3 supports it, in which case I can do it.

Scrubbing Monkeys, Having different effect output per input channel would require two channels
inside the effect which would be exactly the same processor time as two reverb units.
However, what might address your scenario is something I've wanted to add for a long
time but never got the chance. A basic audio unit with mixing controls, such as
left right balance, output amplify per output channel, split to host channel,
limit and split midi key range, split frequency range to channel, etc.

Fantastic synth. Very nice GUI. looking forward to development.

This is actually much better than my original thought which was simple to add an audio unit as a fader to place in between a module and the rev to reduce the volume sent to the reverb. The midi aspect of your idea is exciting as well. It will add a lot of functionality within the audio unit itself.

Hopefully all of our suggestions are not taking you away from your vision of what Fathom should be. Some of the things at least from me are wish list features not show stoppers. I think the feature set you have lined up for the next few updates make a fine product.

RCL, SM, Thanks for your comments.

Yes the controller audio unit will be very useful. I also want to add a Chebychev filter soon
and a drawable FIR filter.

There will be another all user feature request release after 108 comprising 109.

Then after that I may need to face the music on some major stuff like,
the Mac OSX Release and Vector SIMD Instructions for more polyphony.

108 is very close, still doing some testing on the host automation.

Version 1.0.8 is Now Released with Host Automation !

http://www.fathomsynth.com/versions

Virtually all controls can now be automated from the host including all dials and toggles. Graphs and dials are updated in real-time as the host workstation moves the control.

Because Fathom is fully modular all controls are dynamic, so you must first select the control by clicking on the name field to highlight the control, which causes the parameter to immediately appear in the host automation list.

Reduced GUI memory foot print from 1.1 GB to 275 MB
Cool. Thank you. Looking forward to trying it out later on. :tu:

Thank you for yr work.

A great sounding synth with a very special approach to the idea of a modular layout. Wavedraw and -morph give me so many sonic possibilities.

Cheers,
