FM8 is still totally relevant after all these years and is probably the best synth NI has produced (with the possible exception of Absynth). It's undoubtedly the synthesis tool that I've gotten the most use out of and while I don't know about "mastered", I think I have a better than average understanding of it.

I hate FM as a rule. But there is something about FM8 i really love.
i cannot confess to knowing how to use it though. i am like a test monkey banging buttons until the banana arrives. i would love to know it inside out. but i can also say that about most of the synths i use.
at the moment the one synth i can usually get out what i am trying to imagine is Surge.
For synths where i don't have the patience or brain power, i would list sylenth, synth1 and ana ( all these synths have everything in the gui no need to fuss to much to get something good.)
if i had to name one i would love to 'master'?... today, i would say Bazille.. Or Zebra... Or REAKTOR...
