Halion Sonic and the free Halion Sonic SE are structured differently from Halion 6, so you have to take a few extra steps to build a preset or library that can be used by them.
These pages explain the process. It's a lot simpler than it sounds:
https://developer.steinberg.help/displa ... nstruments
https://developer.steinberg.help/displa ... +Libraries
Halion Sonic and Halion Sonic SE presets have 4 layers. You can think of each of these layers as the equivalent of a full Kontakt instrument, and they can be as complex as needed. It's possible to create a Layer where every single note plays a different sound made with a different synth engine, with each of these notes having different insert effects, sends, and scripts.
If your presets use only your own samples and/or the Halion synth engines, you can build a library that can be loaded by Halion Sonic SE, which can be downloaded by anyone for free.

I can't access the links you posted. I get an error "Your connection is not private".Romantique Tp wrote:Halion Sonic and the free Halion Sonic SE are structured differently from Halion 6, so you have to take a few extra steps to build a preset or library that can be used by them.

I have HSE 2 (with Cubase 9 Pro) and I read that HSE 3 is free, but doesn't come with content! What does that mean for using it inside Cubase or outside Cubase?

About the Halion Sonic SE3 Update:
It updated Halion Sonic SE2 in my case. It has a different interface/colours a little bit, but it didn't add anything new.
The only advantage is that I can play the contents of SE2 in another DAW like Reaper, which is nice if I want to use for example the "Trip" Synth in Reaper, which is a a very nice synth with a great filter

Well, it is the one that I installed today. I suppose it is the latest version (3.1.0). I requested the download and activation code from this page:aMUSEd wrote:Is that in the new update? I have the full Halion/sonicEnGee wrote:About the Halion Sonic SE3 Update:

Then one minute later I received email from Steinberg. I activate it and installed it. It replaced the SE 2 version (I don't have Halion or Halion Sonic installed, just the Halion Sonic SE 2 that comes with Cubase 9). SE 2 already had the Trip synth, so the SE 3 update didn't add something new.
Oh, and there is a standalone version as well! This is great
