I used Battery 3, which I like ok, for its rather thorough Indian and Arab percussion. Battery 4, meh. The push to electronica type of not drums turns me off (I no longer have my install disks with the content I'll use) and there isn't enough to warrant paying anything for it, for me.

There were several features that were removed in Battery 4. This video covers them.

One of the things that really pissed me off was the removal of several kits that could be used for composing, such as ethnic kits. I have both 3 and 4 installed, and I use both.

4 has the advantage in that, as mentioned, a lot of people make kits for it (including NI itself in its Expansions series).

Post

Yeah, 100% of what I was using is gone and instead there's a lot of insta-delete electronica stuff.

Post

I remember there were MIDI files attached to each kit to demonstrate their sound range. They vanished as well...
Does anybody know where to find these MIDI files again?

Post

Is there any way to get the old stuff and put it into Battery 4?

Post

I've used the old stuff in it, I just don't have it anymore. That's a good question, how to get it. It was about install disks in the box, I have not seen any way to access it via NI.

Post

I have Battery 3 as well. I haven't used it a lot, but I remember that I liked it more than Battery 4 so that I bought it second hand and the seller uploaded two files (one is about 4.5 GB and the other is about 7.5 GB!!) for me to be able to install the contents. That's a lot of contents :o

I don't think there is any midi files with it (or with v.4), but there are demos which are loops. Anyway, I have noticed that Groove Monkee patterns are a great match with Battery, especially the acoustic kits).

I might install version 3 again soon as I remember it has more acoustic/world kits.

Edited!
Yes I installed it! It worth it because the kits are completely different than Battery 4.

Battery 4 is still rockin in 2018!

Its a no fuss sampler and best so far on the market, and trust me I've bought a few turkeys!

I found a bit of a random site but has a couple of seriously grooving MIDI loops drum packs for Battery 4 House/tech House/Techno etc

http://www.Evilglamour.com

They've got some great patterns/grooves just using the preset Kits, ive learnt so much just from these pattens!
Both packs are £3 each well worth it just get some decent MIDI loops just for Battery 4 at last! :):):)

Those changes are asinine. It reeks of "lazy GUI overhaul". It happens a lot (features fail to be recreated when a GUI is massively redone), especially in larger companies (more pressure to put new product on market).

Sometimes the product itself isn't even the same (same product name, different code base), and they only re-implement the most obvious features, waiting to see how much complaint there is about lost features, and then only replacing those that generate the most outrage.

Have any of those lost functions been put back since 2014 when the video was made?

If you have install DVD's for battery 3, then you can install it and you can convert-load the battery 3 content into Battery 4 as a User Library. I do not know how you can obtain Battery 3 now if you don't already have the DVD's...I can't remember which version of Komplete was the last one to have it.. maybe version 8?

Can this be done in bulk? If so, do you have a link to the instructions?

Cheers :tu:
