While I'm quite convinced that everyone hopes for a nex gen wavetable super synth which would take the best of Massive, Serum, Virus TI etc, I'm also quite convinced that it's going to be yet another boring and uninspiring thing, either some sample library or yet another Reaktor thingie which nobody except for Tim Exile is ever going to use.

There ar some good reasons to think the contrary to both of these guesses. Personally I just can’t believe that after already having both a realtor drum machine called massive as well as a synth called massive, that they would actually name yet another unrelated product “massive” something. On the second point, I also assumed it would some mildly interesting reactor thingie, but then I noticed that massive x not only has its own license, but also a massive x factory library. Only their big platform products have this like maschine, reaktor and kontakt. So that made me think it would be it’s own thing. Maybe?

Indeed - Massive eXpanded makes sense. However, there are a couple of strikes against that, first and foremost is that if this was it, then where's the option to buy Massive eXpanded? There's no naming or branding for it, and you can't seem to buy it all as a bundle. 2nd strike against is that conventional presets does not a Factory Library make I'd have thought.

Fun game this though. Best we can guess for now is that Massive itself is unlikely to be discontinued or superceded.

Discontinued - probably not.
Superceded - well, they have just started a half-price sale on Massive, which may well be a thinly veiled plot to get some upgrade money if Massive X does turn out to be the sequel.

Doesn't really make sense to me. They've never had Massive expansions for sale before*. Would seem an odd thing to do with a product they are about to supersede.

Massive preset expansions are already often part of the Maschine expensions…

Hmmm, possibly. But I don’t see massive x named anywhere. And that still wouldn’t explain why there would be a massive x license and a massive x factory library license.
