Read my recent posts on this,aMUSEd.It's still a very useful feature because of the added outputs. Also, you DO get a little front/back soundfield motion even in stereo.

I cannot play an instrument. I cannot remember melodies. I cannot sing. I have bad timing. I know way too little about counterpoint.

I doubt I'm someone you would enjoy meeting very much & nope, no escorting here unless it was in a squad car..

But it's good to know your sexual preference & modus operandi..Watch out, young ones, don't let Chester the molester buy you a drink or you're gonna wake up with your pants unbuttoned..

:uhuhuh:

Wow.

Now we know you personally escort people from clubs..

...are you trying to say you're a bouncer? Coz it sounds more like your a fuckin' rentboy.

just a long shot.. but what if he just picked someone up in a club (him being gay, that would be a man) just like you would pick up a girl in a club, after wich you 'escort' him/her to your/her/his home for some erm.. a cup of tea

just an idea

I can realy hear it getting applied to your music..

Why not get Dystonia's opinion of it? He's a recent Absythn convert..if you don't value my opinion, why hear his?
I have no doubt it's top quality, and you, DEK, ew, normal, and x_bruce all make for an excellent advert for it. But I would never buy something I couldn't try out fully. I'm now leaning towards Crusher-X for my next sfotsynth purchase somewhere down the line. Besides, there's a Korg Prophecy in the mail heading my way, should probably make use of that first while my bank account recovers.

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks Cabinfever, I always love being accused of something indirectly. So now, do it right and state exactly how I'm controlled by, cause you see, I don't appreciate lies about me, observations I make about a synth I wasn't sure would live up to the hype, etc.

Gee, sounds like a fanboy? Not.
Sounds like I work for N.I. or am affiliated in some way. Not

Thanks to all who've contributed reasonable, polite discussion. To those that won't buy something without a demo I understand, I feel that way about a lot of synths. Personally, Absynth 1 is still on my system because it does some things that are easier to do than Absynth 3 which is warmer than 1. That seems to be available and at the least people will get a general impression, assuming they keep in mind this is the synth 2 versions ago. In every area it has improved.

Cabinfever, I don't like people like you that hide in anonymity and act like strutting asses. I don't have much but I have my name and a somewhat reasonable reputation and will not have you or any other cranky wannabe accusing me of something without proof. If in fact you're a bouncer you might want to try your way onto the stage where I played for most of my life until illness took that pleasure away from me.

I expected some whining jerks to start in on ABsynth 3 but I won't stand for personal attacks or accusations that can't be followed up. Got it?

I just got to play with the presets so far but wow I think Absy 3 is a great improvement. The envelope screen is great. Being a preset junkie I'm already in love with this stuff...

the best change in abs3 is that you can now see where each envelope is in real time. that alone makes it worth the $$.

I agree - the scrolling line scanning the envelope is such a simple but wonderful addition - it makes it easy to understand the functioning of the envelopes! Absynth is a strange beast with a very odd interface but it works because the Brian Clevinger thought about how to create sound on a computer rather than a virtual representation of a synth.

With Absynth the 2 big factors that produce the unique sound is:-

1) The Pipe and Multitap effects units - they are works of genius - they give the 'organic' quality - try the patches with the effects turned off - you will see what I mean

2) The envelopes - but the Sytrus synth equally has just as flexible envelopes (plus more than 68 breakpoints) !

So, perhaps try running an ordinary synth as the audio in though Absynth 3 effects - that will give some of the 'Absynth sound'

BTW - z3ta+ is highly regarding as having a great sound - again due to the effects - the filters aren't fantastic IMHO.

The old demo was only v1? Really? Because it really sucked. I can think of at least one sale NI lost over it.
The kazzaa demo's way more recent..maybe xander can hook you up :P
Well, you just chalked up another bunch of posts you hemolytically-challenged posting monster you -- you'll beat vurt's record shortly I bet :P .

No, casting all negative aspersions asisde, I try almost every new product that gets released, and the Absynth 3 demo running at Yodobashi Camera store (just ask Ford Prefect or maybe even Knockman) -- where most of us traveling wackster musos go to hang in Japan because we're too poor to do aything else -- is where I tested it prior to the point of which we bagan to speaketh. However, to try it, you are required to actually log off from your PC and take your hand off your mouse, (if that doesn't cause you too much angst), physically move your body from it's comfortably seated throne, go down to your local music store and actually live-test stuff. :hihi:

This is way cool for those who want to try out state-of-the-art DAWs which they otherwise could never afford (especially in Japan). I recommend this activity highly. :) 8)

Kazzaa? No way -- Bit Torrent is way better :hihi:
