With the 606? A lot of techno was made with the 606 as a poor man's 808. It is a bit different, I like it too. I'd probably pick one up if it showed up cheap, but I don't need such toys today.Bronto Scorpio wrote:I'm going to make a 808/909 listening hour and only listen to tracks which use an 808 and/or 909
Does a 606 count as well? Funnily, a lot of my favorite music features a 606. I guess that one sounds "boring" too?
A R8 is often used as well, I guess that one is even more boring? It doesn't even load user samples!
Somehow people still managed to make great music with it. Maybe they were wizards.
I think it's funny how people judge instuments by how often they do or do not appear in "successful" music.
Cheers

The Accent in the TR8, like the reverb, is not per voice. Don't get me started on the missing midi tracks.MFXxx wrote:This thread is so of topic...it's as constructive as a chimpanzee on acid!
Really needs a come down with a chill pill.
I was surprised when I realized that... I would have assumed that was an essential featureghettosynth wrote: The Accent in the TR8, like the reverb, is not per voice. WHAT?
The answer is very simple, like it's been provided many times now. Who? People. Normal everyday people who are more concerned about making music, than fulfiling your brief to make some imagined NEW music.ghettosynth wrote:
I started this by asking WHO, specifically, is going to use this and for what kind of music? You don't know the answer to that question, so stop repeating yourself with the same non-answers. To you, it's everyone who's never owned an 808/909 and doesn't know any better. Fine, but that's not interesting and it isn't an answer.
Now that's something to get my attention.MFXxx wrote:...it's as constructive as the Easter bunny on acid!
Lol. He must have some weird agenda to try and ruin Roland or something.himalaya wrote:The answer is very simple, like it's been provided many times now. Who? People. But perhaps Jeff Mills will use it?

Perhaps this person will buy the TR8 in order to boost the TR-808 sounds with 909 sounds ?

Oh, another live performance, of the sort that you CLAIM that never happens:

Obviously, this guy is doing something wrong as well, he is using an all hardwrae set up to make music!

Oh, no! Here's a guy with the actual TR-8 making music! Noooooo! Lucky sod, must have gotten the TR8 early, some of my friends are still waiting for their pre-orders to come through. This is is yet another example of this new generation of musicians, people who no longer relay on software only, and want the full hand's on approach as afforded by hardware:

A live techno set with a whole line of TR-X0X instruments from 2010:

This is out of hand. An Elektron Analog box, with TB303, TR8 making acid, co-existing all in one track. I know, this isn't 'NEW' music as in genre breaking stuff - it never was, it's your imagined strawman argument, ghettosynth. It's about just making music, like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abqAzbxwh1I
The TR8, before it's even widely available in all shops, inspires some people to buy it, some already have, because they will be able to make music with it. It matters little if you consider the music old or not innovative enough, or what the Roland promo language would want you to believe (don't be so naive). It's always about just making music, like shown in these videos. Have you learned yet?
The use of the "N" word by black people doesn't make it appropriate or not racist.Kriminal wrote:dcfac73 wrote:even though it wasKriminal wrote:.... i dont see how mentioning 'white' is racist

The word white didnt come into the equation when i was deciding that his post was funny. I am white, so i must be a racist.

This thread needed some enlightenment, thanks bronto/dcfac...
i dont really care. I thought it was a funny post that had nothing to do with racism. If you want to make something out of nothing thats up to you.dcfac73 wrote:The use of the "N" word by black people doesn't make it appropriate or not racist.Kriminal wrote:dcfac73 wrote:even though it wasKriminal wrote:.... i dont see how mentioning 'white' is racist
