Or is that announcement separate?

Does this fix the issue with instrument input that the UR22 has?

I am sorry but I quite not understand your question?
This thread is an announcement for a brand new Interface called UR44 which is a bigger versión of the UR22.

On the other hand, what issue os the what that you are mentioning?
Do you mean the Low frequency noise on the UR22?
This has already been fixed on the UR22, and it was fixed on all the future builds of the same series.
If you are still suffering from that problem, please contact your local distributor or the shop where you bought your Audio Interface.

Guillermo,
I have a UR22 (which I'm very happy with), and I notice that the UR44 no longer has the "Hi-Z" switch. Could you talk briefly about the changes you've made with regard to Hi-Z input selection?

That is because the first two inputs feature hi impedance attenuation already. So, if you want to record electric guitars you need to connect them to inputs 1 and 2. While 3 and 4 are designed to handle line-in double instruments (e.g. a Keyboard).

There is no need for a switch as you have 6 inputs now ;)
The UR22 has a switch because it only has 2 inputs, therefore if you want to record guitars you need to enable the HI-Z but you will have to disable it in case you wanted to record a keyboard, with the UR44 you already have dedicated line-in inputs on the rear panel.

No, I'm referring to the design flaw that anything with moderately hot pickups easily overdrives the input on the UR22. Search your own forum, it's been complained about. I'm asking if the UR44 has this problem as well.

So has anybody tried this interface out already?
My trusty old Presonus Firebox exploded recently and this one looks like it could be a nice replacement, although it would be even nicer if the 6 physical outputs could actually be used separately for surround work...

Thanks for any feedback :-)

Cheers,

Tom

I have the UR28M and can vouch for it. This is probably similar in sound quality if not the same. Decent build quality on my UR28M too.

Good to hear, thanks Aiynzahev!

The newer Presonus VSL Interfaces seem a bit unreliable from what I read in their forums and otherwise only Focusrite appeals to me in the price-range I'm looking for.
But this interface could be an interesting alternative...

Have to meditate a bit more about it I guess ;-)

I've got the UR22 and I really like it.... only one thing bugs me though.

When I plug a guitar into input 2, I can hear the unprocessed guitar, even though I have the direct monitoring control set fully counterclockwise (no direct sound). That kinda sucks! :scared: :o

I quite liked the UR22, however the overloading input with a guitar was a deal breaker for me, as I use GR5 quite a bit. Too bad they chose to ignore users on it.

Great box. I love the simplicity and great preamps. Only question is why do the most of the included effects crash my other daws? Is that intentional? They are included as gifts but really only seem to work in Cubase :\
