This one is good all round.thecontrolcentre wrote:http://www.sonicstate.com/top20/
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? ShawnG

There's dozens of formative years synths that belong on there long before the "popularity" list starts.starflakeprj wrote:What? No Alesis A6 Andromeda? The article is broken!

Fishy fish fish.
10 (possibly not greatest ever) hardware synths that I happily own:
1) Roland Sh3 (my weird S&H monosynth from 1974)
2) Roland D50
3) Avalon Bassline
4) Moog Minitaur
5) Novation Bass Station 2
6) A strange homemade machine which goes ping and buzzzzzzzzzz, when it decides to work...
7) Novation Xiosynth (but really used for midi softsynth workhorse duties)
8 ) My very sweet Yamaha PSS 480 which I got from Father Christmas when I was 9 years old.
9) Vermona DRM Mkiii - admittedly this is a 'drum synth' but anyway...
10) Erm, does my Roland Space Echo 201 count? (It can self-oscillate )
(But if I was in the market for another hardware synth it would be an SEM Four Voice).
Hurrah!

There have been so many nice synths that it seems impossible to make top 10 lists. Perusing some of the aforementioned lists, yeah those were nice synths but tis doubtful I would want (m)any of them in my house today.
Minimoog? Odessey? CS80? Yeah they were OK. Would gather dust at my house nowadays. Mellotron? Solina? Who would really want and routinely use one of those nowadays?
