don't think so, but thanks for the suggestion.risome wrote:If you can afford it something from RME
As I don't mind too much working with and around limitations I don't think I'll mind the umc404hd's shortcomings too much. It'd still be a big step up from my ageing novation nio...

You might consider something like the Soundcraft Notepad 12FX mixer. It has four mono inputs and two stereo inputs, and a four channel USB audio interface (24bit/48kHz).
The first four mono channels feed the first four channels of the USB interface, and in addition USB channels 3 and 4 can be configured to record from one of the stereo inputs and also to record the main stereo mix too. Typical prices over here in the UK are around £135, okay that's about 50% more than the UMC404 typically sells for but it does give you more connectivity options.

On umc202 HD there are 2 mono inputs, so I guess on umc 404 there are 4 mono inputs.

I don't see a clear mention of this on the site you linked. But as I have it here now, I can confirm that it is four mono inputs and from now on will understand that this is the norm in the audio industry, I guess...BertKoor wrote:Why guess if you can just check it?
Edit :
So far I am quite happy with the umc404hd... It works just fine (except for with asio4all) and I'm now happily recording in modest 24bit 48 kHz. I know that the interface can go higher, but it's okay for my purposes.

Why would you need ASIO4ALL? I presume your interface has its own ASIO drivers.fabi wrote:I don't see a clear mention of this on the site you linked. I tried them for troubleshooting purposes. The problem I was experiencing wasn't due to the umc404hd, though. I had set up multi core support in bidule incorrectly and was experiencing audio glitches due to that.
