Execute MIDI program changes during a song

I'm new to Cantabile and testing out the demo at the moment. I'm trying to work out the best way to use Cantabile to control an external sound module (Roland JV1010). My midi controller is a Vortex keytar. I need to be able to change sounds during a song.

From what I can tell, the best way is to create subsessions for each of the different sounds I need to play within a single song. Then I can use triggers so that when a particular subsession is loaded it will send a program change to the sound module. Then I need to configure the pad buttons on my keytar to load a particular subsession.

I guess for this I only need a single rack. There are no plugins required, so it looks like an empty rack except that the output is going to the MIDI out (and therefore to the sound module).

Is this the best way?
