To usher in the new year, Altus had released the re-mastered version of 24 Hours.

Here is a snippet from the review at Inquisition:
Originally released in 2001, 24 Hours follows an entire day of contemplation in four tracks. Each phase of the day is examined emotionally and sonically. If you were alone on a mountaintop for a full day with no distractions, you might experience the feelings of wonder for nature which Altus captures perfectly on this album. Each epic track is no less than 13 minutes long, and the entire album clocks in at just over an hour. Plenty of time to catch a glimpse at the wonders nature offers us if we are willing to listen.

Listened to daybreak - a well-crafted piece. A little too helicopter-flying-over-grand-canyon-accompanied-by -deep-voice-over type thing for me, but I can appreciate the workmanship. Nicely done 8)

GREAT album mon!

Downloaded, burnt to CD listening through now.
First impressions : very calm and keeps drawing you in.
A couple of parts - particularly the beginning of "Midday" have reminded me of Luc Besson's "Fifth Element" soundtrack (in it's quieter moments). That's one of my favourite albums so hopefully can be considered a good thing.
This is going to get played a lot.

Thanks to all for the comments!

Anzoid: Good catch. The "ding" and pads are from that soundtrack... from back when I had to sample instuments from soundtracks to write my music. Bah! Glad those days are over. ;)

I've only managed to d'loan one track so far - Midnight - :-o - I was initially shocked. I was not expecting such a dark beginning to one of your tracks (but I like it ...) until it gracefully gave way to a dreamy state with the slightest hint of melody.

So this is how your current ambient focus began? I was expecting more of a sonic transition between your current writing and your "previous life." But it seems you settled into your ambient role quite quickly. Impressive.

Your tracks have for me the attractive blend of ambient mood with enough motion/melody to keep it interesting.

I feel very fortunate that you release your music so freely. Thank you,

Well, I'm not sure if the transition you're talking about (between then and now) is about the composition or the actual sound/mix. The original version of 24 Hours sounds very flat compared to the way it does now. In terms of composition I've been making music since 1993, so I've had lots of practice. All my music, even my old techno, was very melodic stuff.
Thank you very much for your kind words.

And thanks again for everyone who's downloaded and enjoyed my stuff... It really makes me feel good to know that people are able to hear my work, other than family and friends.

Finally listening... very nice. Good combo of lush stringy pads and glassy/bell textures. Nice hypnotic micromelodies and rhythms. Good job. :)
