Hi,
I just mastered/mixed this tune in Ableton. I cannot really describe the genre, it's a real atmosphere tune (but still with a lot going on) I think.

that's a nice composition, all good,
my critics start when the drums come in,
there you'd need a better piano sound or a real bass to replace the low part of the piano
my 2c

Hi there.
I wonder how the piano could sound better? I use akoustik piano so in theory it should be a class sound ;)
This is the second time I get a comment about the piano sample...maybe i'm still not using it right.

maybe it's the mp3, or the mixdown,
the piano sounds good but "shy", it should be more aggressive and cut thru the drums,
the music is cool, it deserves a better mix, <grin>

I usually don't do any or very little eq at all. Do you think it is better to cut some frequencies out of the drums or boosting a certain level of the piano?

try both and let your ears decide, but I would say both are necessary,Jesse Gorter wrote:I usually don't do any or very little eq at all. Do you think it is better to cut some frequencies out of the drums or boosting a certain level of the piano?
better if you can use two speaker sets and compare,
or listed loud and then soft of the same monitors,
