this is a dark ambient tune about courage done in Wusikstation with new Spacehawk soundsets.
Mt Everest is unlike it's neighbours in not having as much snow on the uppermost part,as being higher it gets into 'the jet stream',where the winds are much higher and blow the snow away.
Coincidently, this is called 'the death zone' as people up there thru lack of oxygen quickly start degrading their protein for body fuel.
I was thinking about the big storm some years back, when so many climbers died, our own good Kiwi bloke Rob Hall, who waited till his client had died, and realised he couldn't save himself, and rang home.
And some Russian dude that in the middle of the night in a major storm, climbed up into the death zone to rescue people, which, incredibly he did, then went out to try to find more.
What courage.
The clanking you can hear in this tune is the knocking on heavens door.

Cold, windswept feelings, forbidding but with a fatalistic siren. I quite like this piece (although, I do not quite hear the connection with the story you presented above, but it doesn't matter. There is plenty of musical material here to allow me to create my own story ...)
This was WusikStation? I'm not able to do this with Wusikstation. What presets did you use? Any other info how the sounds were made?
There is a new website geared for ambient music. This piece would certainly fit in: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=135861
