This is an older song of mine.

I have tons of songs that I have written for rock bands over the past 10 years, and the bands always fall apart before any recording is done.

I am attempting to record these songs so that I can copyright and distribute them. Perhaps even get other bands to do them, as the rock and roll touring life appeals less to me every minute.

The production on this isn't special. I am very much treating this extended recording project as a demo vehicle for the songs, rather than as an attempt to make a great recording. I just don't have the time to do more given my many other commitments.

Some strong, some weak points on this John. I like the verses a lot, vocal have some (Pearl Jam like) character I like (but some tonal problems too). Drums performance is great. On the other hand lots of 'grunge' cliches in this make it sound definitely dated. I know you said the production isn't special but something sounds wrong/weak with the guitars (IMHO).
Just being honest and totally subjective here ...
