At the beginning of this year I moved to the American "Bible Belt" (wik!).

It's a frightening place.

Georgia...
It's really a beautiful state, but so marred with a tumultuous past.

I came up with the music first and then brainstormed a bunch of words and phrases that remind me of Georgia. I then peiced them together. The hyperlinks will help those not so familiar with Georgia geography. Sorry 'bout the singing folks.

Hi.

I live in São Paulo - Brazil, which is a very big city, maybe like NY, with lots of people from all over the world.

In this song I would like to give honor to the mix of cultures found in this city. I put together musical elements from São Paulo itself, from others regions of Brazil, and some from regions of the world.

Basically, I use a Fender Strato tuned in DADGBB*, all of the strings a little out of tune, especially the last B, almost a quarter of tone up. This special tune makes the guitar sounds like an instrument from the countryside of São Paulo state, called, in Portuguese, Viola Caipira.

Everything was made using:

Cubase SX 3
NI Guitar Rig 2
Waves plugins (reverbs, compressors and EQ, basically)
IK Multimedia T-RackS
Spectrasonics Stylus RMX (that's rock)
AudioRealism Bass Line (that's rock too!! It's my favorite synth bass module)

Paulicéia Nordestina

ABOUT THE LINKS: I've tryed these links to the file, but I'm not shure if it's works for all people. The first one works on my computers, but sometimes a 403 error happen. Works when I click with right button and select "save target as". The second, I don't know why, but when I'm in my page on ArtistServer.com, it works. From here, it links to the page, but the link is exactlly the same. I don't know why that happens. If someone could help me to fix that, I'll apreciate, and in future months, I will do the right thing by myself.Thanx!

lyrics:

Living in a dream
That a land would become color-blind
Oooh...leave a haunted past behind

But the dream becomes a nightmare
In a restless mind that turns and tosses
Ooooh...half asleep in the light of the burning crosses
