1. Remco - Mind over Matter
2. Gary Gerber - What's Your Pedal Point?
3. Laguna Rising - Rough Math
4. Kara - At the Movies Pt. 2
5. D'Mast - My Ponit (wins the Yellow award)
6. VicDiesel - Back Pedal
7. Patrick9 - Garden of Earthly Delight
8. Birrbits - Indian Girl

01 - jamesb - Denizen of bleakton - The b-section is perfect. It just creeps up and makes me drop anything else I do and just listen. I love that effect. It's exactly what makes Motorpsycho the best band in the universe, and you the best january 2007 contestant in the universe. Stunning!
02 - Oddbod - Summer Isle Boat - A perfect little song, with words that match the mood, voice that matches both melody and words, and an organ point section that doesn't try to impress us, it seems like exactly what the song needed. The flaw I talked about wasn't really there, I was just drunk and felt intimidated by your limitless talent.
03 - Markleford - The heart's filthy lesson This one has everything, and when I hear it now as I'm typing this, I have no idea why I'm not giving you the top space. Can I tie three songs for first? Your VOICE!
04 - Gary Gerner - What's your point? Virtuoso playing, very intelligent composition, gorgeous production, the only thing that keeps me from putting you higher is that it seems a little ... constructed. The execution is playful and skilled, but for some reason I don't think you'd have left the pedal point in there if it wasn't your assignment. If there was room for you higher up you'd be there.
05 - Max el Belga - Again, I'm glad to vote for you, because even though you're not always on my top ten, it's not for lack of "mad skillz". This time you've made a less collagy affair that just tickles me in every way. I even think you're funny this time! But about that pedal point - is it really there, or am I just imagining it? Because all the parts seem to move with the harmonies, but I sit left with a feeling of having hummed the organ point throughout the song. Brilliant if intended, lucky if - well - luck.
06 - jakob - beats me - Bluesy in an odd, Tom Waitsy way (it's that synchopated 7th at the end of the 12 bars that twists it a bit), this could easily have slid off the top ten if it wasn't for the gorgeous buildup from about 1:16, that you disarm with a ritardando in the most railroady way. Great!
07 - Barnadine - Pedlar &son - You're not going to catch me not giving credit where it is due, and for this composition you get top points, and a confirmation that you're not just a pretty voice! I like the sound of the piano, what'd you use for it? After James and Oddbod this is the one I've listened to most times this month. You're in danger of outgrowing us as well.
08 - dmast - my point One of the funkiest entries EVER, this has me dancing (inside) every time.
09 - birrbits - Indian girl This sounds like something I could think up, and again it reminds me of Motorpsycho (which, if you didn't get it yet, is the best band in the known universe), so I can't let this go without a vote. You know there are things there that could have benefitted from a retake or I don't know a louder metronome or something, but I'll let that be part of its charm!
10 - rachmiel - heiemo - THIS is beautiful. What the hell is she singing? I can't make out the language! It sounds made up. Gorgeous anyway, lovely voice and fun with the competing odd meters... Brilliant and unexpected. A man of many talents, this rachmiel...
There.
Fell off the top ten in the last round of listening: petrudamsa, streifentier, core, Laguna, darem and VicDiesel, Zeoy.
There were many more that were good enough to have made the vote in a regular month.
